About Pasadena Tree Works

What we take on

13 kinds of tree work, each with its own page: a whole-tree removal over a garage roof, a crane lift in a tight backyard, a dead palm, a split eucalyptus, a coast live oak that needs a light thinning, a fallen tree after a Santa Ana night, a stump that has to go before new sod goes down, and the clearance work Pasadena Fire looks for each spring.

What we don't do: City street and parkway trees (only City crews may touch them, see Pasadena street trees), and anything touching energized power lines, which the utility makes safe first.

Where the numbers come from

Every price on this site names its source and date. Removal prices come from one source, treesremovalcostcalculator.com's Los Angeles guide (updated May 2026), checked against a Pasadena quote sample from homeyou (September 2026). The tree removal cost page lays out the full table.

Rules come from the source: Pasadena Municipal Code Chapter 8.52 and the City's FY2027 fee schedule for the tree removal permit and the protected tree list; Los Angeles County Planning for the oak rules on the Altadena page; the CSLB for licensing. Where a figure hasn't been confirmed with the City, the page says so. The guides were last reviewed in October 2026.

Where we work

Pasadena first, from the Arroyo Seco to the foothill streets, plus Altadena, where Los Angeles County rules apply instead of the City's. The service area page has the details.

Trees are often part of a bigger yard project. For the hardscape side, such as a driveway or patio after a tree and its roots come out, we also run Pasadena Concrete Services, a sister site for concrete work in the same city.

How a request is handled

Quote requests come in through the contact form: your name, a phone number, the address and the kind of job. The quote is free.
